Description

The thin, round leaves of chives are commonly used in soups and sauces. The plant grows in clumps up to 12" high and produces lavender flowers in midsummer. Chives are useful as a companion plant throughout the garden. Chives are the smallest member of the onion family and have a delicate flavour.

USES

Suggested Usage

They can be used as a substitute in any recipe that calls for chopped green onions and will produce a somewhat milder flavour. Try mixing them into soft cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese or butter to create a great bread spread. Also, they are good on potatoes too.
